 Background

Founded in 2004 by Vinod Khosla, Khosla Ventures primarily focuses on cleantech and IT. Khosla’s main mission is assisting entrepreneurs take a breakthrough technology and turning it into a successful business, with a lasting significance. Khosla helps entrepreneurs build their business by, leveraging relationships and attracting partners and customers. Since the end of 2008, Khosla Ventures has invested in 80 companies.

- Vinod Khosla (Founding Partner): Prior to founding Khosla Ventures, Mr. Khosla served as a General Partner at KPCB for 20 years and was a co-founder of Sun Microsystems. Mr. Khosla has a wide expertise and experience in helping entrepreneurs take a technology breakthrough and build it into a viable business. Mr. Khosla holds a Masters in Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from Stanford University. He is a supporter of microfinance organizations in India and Africa and is the founding Board member of the Indian School of Business.

- Pierre Lamond (Partner): Mr. Lamond comes to Khosla Ventures from Sequoia Capital, where he was a partner since 1981. Mr. Lamond has expertise in components, system software, and recently cleantech technology. He cofounded National Semiconductor and has been the Chairman for various other companies, including; Cypress Semiconductor, Microchip, and Vitesse semiconductor.

- Samir Kaul (Partner): Mr. Kaul joined in Khosla in 2006, from Flagship Ventures. Mr. Kaul has a background in Biochemistry, teaching at the University of Michigan and attending graduate school to study Biochemistry at the University of Maryland. His focus is early stage biotechnology companies. Mr. Kaul holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
