Mercato Partners invests in growth equity deals within the small and middle-market sectors, focusing on companies that have recurring revenue models and near-term product launches. Mercato will invest between $5 to $7 million per growth equity transaction with follow-on structures.

- ALAN HALL (Managing Director): Mr. Hall is the founder, former CEO, and chairman of MarketStar Corporation, an outsourced global marketing and sales organization, which helps thirty of the world’s largest high technology companies generate billions of dollars in revenue from the small to medium business space. The company has several thousand employees with operational capabilities in one hundred countries. He was the 1997 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the State of Utah.

Alan is also the founder and chairman of Grow Utah Ventures, a non profit organization which fosters entrepreneurial development. Under Mr. Hall’s direction, Grow Utah has established several incubation facilities for entrepreneurs, encouraged the formation of seven new Angel Investor organizations from Logan to St. George, and is supervising the state-wide rollout of Seed Utah, a private initiative to increase entrepreneurism. An Angel himself, Alan has sixty personal investments in early stage Utah technology companies.

Alan is chairman of the Utah Technology Council; a member of Wells Fargo’s community advisory board and a founding board member of World Trade Center Utah. He also sits on the board of the Intermountain Health Care Foundation. In addition, Alan is a member of the board of trustees of Weber State University. He was the Utah co-chair of Romney for President. He and his wife Jeanne are Chairman and President of the Hall Foundation. Its purpose is to fund not-for-profit organizations that help the needy. Its theme is that there be no poor among us.

- GREG WARNOCK (Managing Director): Greg Warnock, master entrepreneur and venture capitalist, was a founding managing director at vSpring Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm with over $200M under management. He has conceived, founded, operated and sold several companies of his own and was the founder of Precision Data Link, which he sold to Profit Recovery Group (PRGX) in 1998. Greg was principal in more than 20 M&A transactions prior to his work in venture capital. He is one of the region’s most active Angel investors and a committed mentor of entrepreneurs. He is currently completing work on his Ph.D. at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. In June of 2006, Greg was honored with the Supporter of Entrepreneurship Award at the Ernst & Young Special 20th Anniversary Gala Event.

- KEN KRULL (PRINCIPAL): Ken Krull was one of the original limited partners in vSpring Fund I, and subsequently joined their investment team. While at vSpring, he served on the board of directors of MediConnect and was an advisor to BioMicro and Cymphonix. Previously, he held senior level management positions including, Director of Enterprise Protection at TrendMicro, head of the Knowledge Business Unit at Peregrine Systems and CEO of Avinti. Ken graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Economics and received an M.B.A. from the Marriott School of Management. He also judges business plan competitions, and teaches evening New Venture Finance courses at the University of Utah.
